JAKARTA – PT Astra Agro Lestari produced 707,000 tn crude palm oil in Jan-Jun, 15.2% less than 834,000 tn in the same period last year, Santosa, president director of the company, told a press conference after the public expose organised by the Indonesia Stock Exchange today.
The drop in CPO production was due mainly to the long dry season a year ago that impacted the vegetable oil production this year, Santosa said.
Santosa said although CPO production declined, the company posted 9.1 trln rupiah in net revenue in Jan-Jun, 6.5% more than 8.5 trln rupiah in the same period last year.
“This is because during the first semester the company’s CPO average selling price increased 25.9% on year to 8,109 rupiah per kg from 6,441 rupiah per kg in the corresponding period in 2019,” Santosa said.
Despite the current COVID-19 pandemic, the company’s operations have been at normal levels so far. At the same time, the company has implemented strict COVID-19 protocols such as physical distancing, mandatory face mask wearing by all employees and disinfectant application at certain locations to prevent COVID-19 transmission, he said.
