PT Gunung Sejahtera Puti Pesona (GSPP) in Central Kalimantan reaffirmed its commitment to supporting local communities through the distribution of 1,000 tilapia fingerlings and seven sacks of fish feed.
“Through this initiative, PT GSPP aims to support communities in developing productive and sustainable sources of income,” stated PT GSPP Management representative Azizul Husni Reza in Pangkalan Bun on Thursday.
The assistance was provided to the Ulam Panguripan Fish Farmers Group (Pokdakan) in Sungai Pakit Village, Pangkalan Banteng District, West Kotawaringin Regency.
He explained that the support was intended to strengthen freshwater fish farming activities managed by local residents using floating net cages in the village reservoir. The program directly benefits 14 households that are members of the Ulam Panguripan Fish Farmers Group.
This initiative forms part of Astra Kreatif’s CSR economic empowerment program and reaffirms the company’s commitment to delivering broader benefits to surrounding communities.
Through this support, PT GSPP seeks to promote community economic independence by focusing on sectors closely connected to daily life, which possess strong market potential and opportunities for gradual long-term development.“The company seeks to ensure that the presence of PT GSPP continues to bring broader benefits to the surrounding communities,” he stated.
He emphasized that CSR programs should extend beyond the distribution of assistance and should also encourage communities to build stronger economic independence.
“If managed effectively by the group, the fish fingerlings and feed assistance can contribute to increased aquaculture production, additional household income, and stronger village economies,” Husni Reza explained.
He added that the company regards its surrounding communities as an essential component of its sustainability journey. For the company, rural economic empowerment involves not only providing assistance but also building trust, strengthening community capacity, and creating opportunities for communities to achieve sustainable growth together.
Therefore, the company remains committed to implementing social programs that address immediate needs while also creating opportunities for communities to grow, become self-reliant, and achieve long-term benefits.
“The company’s success must be aligned with community progress. As the village economy strengthens, the company’s value to its surrounding environment also increases,” he added.
The CSR program also received positive responses and expressions of appreciation from the Head of Sungai Pakit Village and the Chairman of the Ulam Panguripan Fish Farmers Group.
Sungai Pakit Village Head Kusairi expressed gratitude and appreciation for PT GSPP’s attention and support for the local community.
He noted that the assistance serves as positive encouragement for residents engaged in developing freshwater fish farming activities in the village reservoir.
“This assistance is very meaningful for the fish farming group, as it helps strengthen and expand their ongoing business activities. It is hoped that collaborations of this nature will continue and provide even greater benefits for the community,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ulam Panguripan Fish Farmers Group Chairman Dedi Irwansyah stated that the fish fingerlings and feed assistance from PT GSPP significantly supports group members in conducting their aquaculture activities.
He expressed hope that the support would motivate group members to manage the floating net cages with greater diligence and sustainability.
“We hope that in the future our aquaculture results will continue to improve and provide additional income for group members,” Dedi Irwansyah concluded.
