PANGKALAN BUN – PT Gunung Sejahtera Dua Indah (PT GSDI) prioritizes community health and preparedness for forest and land fires. Through its Aruna Daya Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the company organized an integrated educational initiative for Posyandu Cempaka cadres in Sungai Bengkuang Village, Pangkalan Banteng District.
The program focused on two main areas: enhancing basic healthcare services, especially child growth monitoring, and protecting community health from respiratory risks caused by smoke haze from forest and land fires.
Local government officials and healthcare workers commended the initiative as a tangible contribution to improving village-level healthcare services. Sungai Bengkuang Village Head Naman stated that PT GSDI’s contributions are evident through various empowerment initiatives that address multiple aspects of local life.
“PT GSDI has demonstrated a strong commitment to the community, particularly in Sungai Bengkuang Village. The company’s presence is felt not only through healthcare initiatives such as this Posyandu program, but also through various development programs in the areas of environment, economy, and education, which complement one another,” Naman said.
During the program, Posyandu Cempaka cadres were trained on Integrated Primary Health Services (ILP) standards, the five-table Posyandu service system, and the correct use of anthropometric measurement equipment according to established guidelines.
Building cadres’ capacity is essential for improving measurement accuracy and child growth monitoring. Accurate data enables earlier identification of growth disorders and nutritional issues, including stunting, allowing for timely and appropriate intervention.
In addition to its contribution to maternal and child healthcare, DI addressed the threat of forest and land fires and their impact on public health.
The company distributed 700 medical masks to protect residents, especially vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and young children, from dust and particulate matter in smoke haze.
The initiative also provided education on respiratory protection, helping residents understand preventive measures to take when air quality declines.
Sungai Bengkuang Village Midwife Rondiyah expressed her appreciation for the support provided through the Aruna Daya program for Posyandu.
She noted that the assistance and guidance were valuable for both healthcare cadres and community members who rely on Posyandu services.
“We would like to thank PT GSDI for supporting the people of Sungai Bengkuang Village through the Aruna Daya program for Posyandu. Astra has demonstrated a strong commitment to community welfare, and we hope these ongoing programs will continue in the future,” Rondiyah said.
The technical training on the five-table service system and use of anthropometric equipment is expected to equip cadres with the skills needed to deliver improved healthcare services.
The distribution of masks and respiratory protection education serve as preventive measures to help communities prepare for health risks related to smoke haze.
Through its Aruna Daya CSR program, PT GSDI continues to strengthen collaboration with village authorities, healthcare workers, and the community.
This collaboration aims to improve basic healthcare services and raise public awareness about preventing health risks related to environmental conditions.
By strengthening Posyandu cadres’ capacity and improving preparedness for forest and land fires, PT GSDI supports sustainable efforts to safeguard maternal and child health and enhance family resilience in Sungai Bengkuang Village.
