TRIBUNKALTENG.COM, PANGKALAN BUN — PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro) continues to strengthen its position as a pioneer in Indonesia’s sustainable palm oil industry. Through one of its subsidiaries, PT Gunung Sejahtera Ibu Pertiwi (GSIP), which operates in Central Kalimantan, Astra Agro has officially obtained the SNI ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certificate from international certification body PT TÜV NORD Indonesia.
This strategic achievement is documented in Certificate Registration Decree No. 16 00 H 26000704, issued on August 10, 2026. The certification is valid for three years, until August 9, 2029.
The certification covers the entire research and production value chain, encompassing research and development of superior varieties, including breeding and molecular analysis, through to the production and marketing of oil palm sprouts for smallholders and the wider community.
The strategic partnership between PT GSIP and the Indonesian Oil Palm Research Center (PPKS) has been firmly established since 2008, focusing on the development and marketing of high-quality superior oil palm sprouts, particularly the DxP Simalungun variety.
Building on its long-standing track record of supporting productivity improvements in Indonesia’s plantation sector, PT GSIP remains committed to continuous improvement to ensure the availability and quality of superior planting materials for the public.
Preparations for ISO 9001:2015 certification began in early 2025, followed by an external audit conducted by PT TÜV NORD Indonesia. Following the audit process, PT GSIP was officially deemed eligible to receive the Quality Management System Certificate.
The achievement of ISO 9001:2015 certification by PT GSIP demonstrates the company’s tangible commitment to ensuring that every oil palm seed it produces consistently meets the highest international quality standards.
“We recognize that the success and productivity of oil palm plantations are largely determined by the quality of planting materials from the earliest stages. Therefore, implementing an integrated quality management system—from molecular research and breeding to distribution—not only strengthens the trust of customers and smallholder partners but also provides a solid foundation for the company to consistently contribute to the advancement and sustainability of Indonesia’s palm oil industry,” said Cahyo Sri Wibowo, Senior Vice President of Research & Development at PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk.
Obtaining this internationally recognized certification brings significant added value to Astra Agro. In addition to reinforcing the credibility of the company’s research and development (R&D) unit in implementing globally recognized quality assurance standards, the certification is also expected to improve operational efficiency throughout the value chain.
The implementation of ISO 9001:2015 standards across production and marketing processes is expected to further strengthen the confidence of customers and smallholder partners while driving increased sales of Astra Agro’s superior oil palm sprouts in the domestic market.
This initiative further demonstrates Astra Agro’s commitment to upholding transparency, quality, and sustainability in Indonesia’s palm oil plantation industry.
