Sarolangun (ANTARA) – The conflict between the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community and PT Sari Aditya Loka (SAL) security personnel has been resolved through government-facilitated mediation. Both parties agreed to end the dispute and are committed to maintaining stability in the area.
The mediation took place at the Main Hall of the Sarolangun Regent’s Office on Friday (April 17), led by Regent H. Hurmin and attended by members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), traditional leaders, and community representatives.
During the forum, both parties agreed to a customary settlement known as “pampeh” (compensation). PT SAL, represented by Joko Susilo, approved the SAD’s request to provide pampeh setengah bangun compensation to three injured individuals. Each victim received compensation.
This agreement has helped ease tensions that previously attracted public attention. In the signed peace agreement, the SAD, represented by Tumenggung Njalo, apologized and committed to stop harvesting fresh fruit bunches (FFB) or loose palm fruits from PT SAL’s core plantation areas.
The SAD group also agreed not to carry homemade firearms (kecepek) within the company’s operational area. They further committed to cooperate with law enforcement if future incidents of theft, storage, or distribution of illegal palm oil products occur in the Air Hitam subdistrict.
The peace agreement was formalized in an official document signed by both parties and witnessed by officials and community leaders, including Regent H. Hurmin, Commander of Military District 0420/Sarko Lt. Col. Inf. Yakhya Wisnu Arianto, Deputy Police Chief Kompol Sumarno Berutu, District Prosecutor Rolly Manampiring, Head of the District Court Novarina Manurung, Regional Secretary Muhammad Arief, representatives of the Malay Traditional Institution (LAM), community leaders, and tumenggung (customary chiefs) from various SAD groups.
Previously, clashes between SAD groups and company security personnel attracted widespread attention. Police responded quickly to de-escalate the situation and encouraged resolution through dialogue.
The Head of the Malay Traditional Institution (LAM) of Air Hitam Subdistrict, H. Muhtar B, noted a shift in behavior among some SAD groups. “What we are facing now is different. There is external influence, and palm harvesting activities are no longer solely for subsistence,” he said.
He also highlighted the alleged involvement of parties acting as collectors of stolen goods, which has worsened the situation and caused concern among residents. He stated this directly affects the sense of security for residents and workers, and impacts local economic activities.
Muhtar urged authorities to regulate the use of homemade firearms and encouraged all parties supporting SAD communities to intensify their guidance and assistance efforts.
With this agreement, all parties hope the situation in Air Hitam will return to stability. Ongoing dialogue, law enforcement, and community development are considered essential for maintaining stability and fostering sustainable relations among indigenous communities, companies, and the environment.
