Pekanbaru (ANTARA) – PT Sari Lembah Subur (PT SLS), a palm oil plantation company, continues to provide accessible healthcare through its Health CSR programme, which also raises public awareness about healthy living.
Since its establishment in Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province, PT SLS’s programme has benefited thousands of people, with a focus on mothers and children as priority groups.
“One of the main focuses is the development of Posyandu (Integrated Health Service Posts),” said Hanafi, Assistant for Sustainability and CSR at PT SLS. Hanafi stated that there are at least 20 Posyandu supported by PT SLS, spread across Pangkalan Lesung Sub-district and Kerumutan Sub-district, serving as the frontline in providing basic healthcare at the village level.
The Health CSR programme includes ongoing activities such as providing supplementary food (PMT) for toddlers, supporting immunisation, and training Posyandu volunteers to enhance service delivery.
Volunteers have seen tangible improvements in service delivery as a result of this programme.
“Previously, we were limited in terms of knowledge and facilities. After receiving guidance and training, we have become more confident in providing services and health education to mothers,” said one of the Posyandu cadres in Kerumutan Sub-district.
Mothers also report direct benefits from the programme, noting that supplementary food aid and health support help them monitor their children’s growth and development.
“Alhamdulillah, my child’s nutrition is now better monitored. We also now understand better the importance of immunisation and nutritious food,” said Sari, one of the beneficiary mothers.
The supplementary feeding programme (PMT) has had a significant impact. In 2025, PMT assistance was distributed to all supported Posyandus to address toddler nutrition and prevent stunting.
PT SLS also promotes healthy lifestyle changes through education on Clean and Healthy Living Behaviours (PHBS), youth outreach, and training on the use of medicinal plants for families (TOGA).
A recent company-organised blood donation drive contributed 120 units of blood to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Riau Province.
Hanafi emphasised that PT SLS’s Health CSR programme is designed to have a long-term impact on the community.
“Through the programme named Astra Sehat, we aim to encourage the community not only to receive services but also to be able to manage their own health independently. The role of community health workers and families is key to creating a healthy environment,” said Hanafi.
By actively involving the community, PT SLS aims for the programme to continue growing and to make a meaningful contribution to public health in areas near its operations.
