PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro) has once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing education with the impressive achievements of SDS Nirmala Cendekia, a school supported by PT Nirmala Agro Lestari (NAL), one of Astra Agro’s subsidiaries. At the County Level National Student Arts and Literature Festival (FLS2N), SDS Nirmala Cendekia won five championship titles out of the seven categories contested.
Abdul Kohar, the Head of the Education and Culture Office of Lamandau Regency, emphasized that this success is not only a source of pride for the school but also a testament to the remarkable outcomes possible through collaboration between the private sector and local education.
“We appreciate the hard work of the students, teachers, and the full support from PT Nirmala Agro Lestari. We hope that this achievement continues to grow at the provincial and even national levels,” he said.
The Lamandau District-level FLS2N competition was organized by the Department of Education and Culture and featured the best schools from all sub-districts. SDS Nirmala Cendekia excelled in five competition categories: 1st Place in Story Writing by Gentur Jalu Kelana, 1st Place in Story Illustration by Safira Nirmala Sari, 1st Place in Pantomime by Gabriela Dahani Twi Marsha and Abigail, 1st Place in Creative Dance by the 5th-grade student team from Lamandau, and 2nd Place in Storytelling by Nur Inaya Kaira.
The Principal of SDS Nirmala Cendekia, M. Nurcholik, noted that this achievement is the result of intensive coaching from dedicated teachers and the students’ strong desire to learn.
“We are committed to providing more intensive training in preparation for the Provincial level FLS2N. Support from parents, teachers, and companies has been vital to our success,” he said.
Erwin Ristiyanto, an administrator at PT Nirmala Agro Lestari, commented that this achievement highlights how the company’s social investment in education creates measurable impacts.
“We believe that education is the foundation of sustainable development. Through our supported schools, we aim to provide equal access, quality coaching, and opportunities for children in the surrounding areas to develop optimally,” he explained.
This achievement not only reflects academic readiness but also enhances cultural values, teamwork, and students’ self-confidence. Participation in national events such as FLS2N serves as an indicator of the successful implementation of CSR programs integrated with community development and the strengthening of local educational institutions.
Astra Agro, along with all its subsidiaries, will continue to promote education-based CSR initiatives through a structured collaborative approach. In the future, SDS Nirmala Cendekia is expected to be a model for improving the quality of primary education in the Central Kalimantan region.
