To strengthen social ties and foster a spirit of compassion during the holy month of Ramadan, PT Karya Tanah Subur (PT KTS) held a joint iftar event combined with a charity programme for orphaned children on 17 March 2026.
The event, held from late afternoon until iftar, was attended by 18 orphaned children—children of former employees—accompanied by their guardians. Also in attendance were religious leaders, representatives of the Labour Union, the Association Chairperson, and members of the PT KTS Staff Wives Association (Periska).
As part of the programme, PT KTS distributed assistance in the form of cash donations, sarongs or prayer garments, and food packages to support the well-being of the children.
In his remarks, PT Karya Tanah Subur Administrator Halik Barutu highlighted the importance of strengthening togetherness and reinforcing social responsibility, particularly towards orphaned children within the company’s community.
“Ramadan provides a meaningful opportunity for us to strengthen our bonds and share with others, especially with orphaned children who need care and attention,” he said.
The event continued with a religious sermon delivered by Ustadz Syafrudin under the theme “The Spirit of Fasting as a Means of Atonement and a Call to Love Orphans.” He encouraged participants to use Ramadan as a moment to strengthen faith and deepen social compassion.
“Fasting is not only about refraining from food and drink, but also about purifying oneself and cultivating empathy towards others, particularly orphaned children,” he explained.
The event concluded in a warm and reflective atmosphere, marked by a communal iftar that brought together participants in a spirit of togetherness.
Through this initiative, PT Karya Tanah Subur reaffirms its commitment to delivering meaningful social impact while strengthening the values of unity and care within both the company and the surrounding community.
