Recognizing the importance of early intervention in improving quality of life and preventing illness and accidents, PT Subur Abadi Plantations (SAP), a subsidiary of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk. (Astra Agro), organized health education and safety awareness activities for children within the company’s learning environment. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to fostering a healthy and safe environment, consistent with its vision for human resource management and social responsibility.
“Health and safety are core values of our company. By fostering understanding from an early age, we hope children will become a generation that values health and safety for themselves, their families, and their communities,” said PT Subur Abadi Plantations Administrator Abdus Syukur.
He emphasized that limited understanding of healthy and safe behaviours at an early age can increase the risk of illness, accidents, and injuries later in life. Direct education combined with practical experience is considered an effective way to develop lasting positive habits in children.
The event opened with a welcome speech and recognition of the participants’ enthusiasm. Dr Vera then presented on dental health, explaining the importance of dental hygiene and demonstrating proper brushing techniques. Through group practice, the children engaged actively and more easily understood the healthy habits to apply in daily life.
Mulyana, a representative from SHE PT Subur Abadi Plantations, presented on driving safety. Children learned about safe practices, including wearing helmets on motorbikes and using seat belts on buses. During hands-on activities, students practiced boarding the bus in an orderly manner, wearing seat belts, and sitting in assigned seats. They were also encouraged to remind their parents to use personal protective equipment at work.
Asrul presented the final session on fire management, explaining that fire can be useful in some situations but is dangerous if uncontrolled. Using a simple visual approach, students learned the importance of promptly reporting large fires to adults to prevent risks.
Through this educational initiative, PT Subur Abadi Plantations aims to instill awareness of healthy living and safety behaviors from an early age. The company expects that children will maintain these habits and share them with their families and communities, contributing to a healthier, safer, and more competitive future generation.
