PT Astra Agro Lestari, a palm oil plantation company based in the Sulawesi area, partnered with PT Pasangkayu, the Pasangkayu District Government, and the local Environmental Agency (DLH) to celebrate “World Clean Up Day.”
The event, titled “Collaboration for a Clean Indonesia,” took place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, and was attended by Pasangkayu Deputy Regent Herny Agus, representatives from the Department of Environment and Forestry (DLH), and management from PT Astra Agro Lestari Sulawesi Area. The cleanup activity was held on Sultan Hasanuddin Street and in the vicinity of the Pasangkayu Regent’s Office.
“This activity not only helps clean the environment but also raises awareness among the community regarding the importance of maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability,” Herny stated during the event.
Hermanto Rudi, the Community Development Area Manager (CDAM) for Sulawesi 1, explained that the company’s support for this initiative aligns with the sustainability values upheld by Astra Agro Lestari. He added that environmental care is an essential aspect of corporate social responsibility, which the company actively promotes through various programs.
“We view environmental cleanliness as a shared responsibility, one that involves not only the government but all elements of society, including the business sector. Therefore, we aim to be more than just business operators; we strive to be strategic partners in maintaining environmental sustainability,” he said.
Hermanto emphasised that PT Pasangkayu is committed to supporting similar activities in the future. He noted that this collaboration not only contributes to a cleaner environment but also strengthens the relationship between companies, government entities, and the community.
“We hope this World Clean Up Day inspires individuals and organizations to participate actively in environmental protection, ensuring sustainable benefits,” he added.
It is hoped that this World Cleanup Day will inspire the people of Pasangkayu to be more aware of environmental cleanliness and serve as a model for effective collaboration in preserving the environment.
