PT Astra Agro Lestari, through PT Mamuang, distributed thousands of catfish fry and conducted a fish breeding training session titled “Developing Effective Cultivation Skills and Abilities” for freshwater fish farming groups in Panca Mukti Village, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
This initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting food security and empowering the local community’s economy to enhance economic independence based on local potential.
Herman, a resident of Panca Mukti Village and a training participant, expressed that this activity is highly beneficial for community members looking to start a business in the fisheries sector. He emphasized that the training goes beyond mere words; it truly opens new horizons for participants.
“I personally feel very supported, especially by the training that provides new perspectives. This has motivated us to develop fish farming as an additional source of income,” he stated.
The distribution of assistance resulted from a participatory dialogue between the CSR Team of PT Mamuang and Panca Mukti Village officials, as well as community representatives.
The handover process was conducted symbolically and witnessed by the Head of Panca Mukti Village, Karib Wibowo, along with village officials and members of the fish farming group.
Karib Wibowo praised PT Mamuang’s efforts in empowering the community and driving economic growth through fish breeding. “The fish breeding initiative is not just about food production, but also represents an economic opportunity for the community. We hope this program continues with support from various parties, especially companies,” he explained.
Susanto, the Chief Development Officer of PT Mamuang Agro, stated that the harmonious relationship between the company and the village establishes a strong foundation for the success of the catfish breeding program in Panca Mukti Village. “Public trust is essential. Through open dialogue and collaboration, we can better understand the community’s needs and design programs that truly make an impact,” Susanto added in his statement on Wednesday, July 8, 2025.
He further explained that this activity reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting productive economic programs for the surrounding village community. “We believe that economic empowerment should stem from genuine local potential. Freshwater fish breeding in Panca Mukti is one area of potential that needs support, and we are here to assist with facilities and community capacity building,” he elaborated.
Muh. Fathurrohman, the CSR Assistant of PT Mamuang, emphasized the importance of mentoring in every CSR program implemented to ensure sustainable activities for the residents of Panca Mukti. “Our goal is not only to provide physical assistance but also to equip the community with knowledge and skills, ensuring that this program remains sustainable and yields maximum benefits for the residents,” he concluded.
