A recent fire disaster in the densely populated area of Jalan Simpang Bom, Air Molek I Village, Pasir Penyu District, has left residents grieving the loss of their homes and belongings. In the midst of this tragedy, PT Tunggal Perkasa Plantations (PT TPP), a subsidiary of PT Astra Agro Lestari, Tbk, stepped in to provide moral support and assistance as a demonstration of their care and concern for the affected community.
The aid distribution took place directly at the incident site on Friday, July 11, 2025. The event was attended by the Regent of Indragiri Hulu, Ade Agus Hartanto; the Deputy Regent of Inhu, Ir H Hendrizal; representatives from Baznas Riau Province; various heads of local government agencies (OPD); Forkopimda representatives; and several companies operating in the area.
During the event, PT TPP handed out food packages and kitchen supplies to the affected residents. The assistance was presented by PT TPP Administrator Victor Aybund, accompanied by Community Development Officer Yudita Robi Chastomo, reflecting the company’s empathy towards residents facing such difficult times.
Aldiar Susenra, the Head of Pasir Penyu District, expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the government, companies, and the community in addressing this disaster. “The concern demonstrated by various parties, especially companies, is a clear representation of the spirit of mutual cooperation that thrives within the community. We hope this collaboration continues, not just during disasters but also for sustainable social development,” he stated.
A massive fire engulfed six houses on the night of Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire likely started at the back of a resident’s house and quickly spread to nearby homes. Despite the efforts of residents and firefighters—from both the government and companies, including PT TPP—the fire completely destroyed the houses belonging to H. Amirudin, H. Hakim, Musa, Jupandi, the family of the late Jon Hendri/Siti Mariam, and Jais. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the material losses are estimated to reach hundreds of millions of rupiah.
Victor Aybund, representing all management and employees of PT TPP, expressed deep condolences for the disaster that affected the Simpang Bom community. He emphasized that PT TPP is not only a business entity but also an integral part of the local community that cares about its social environment. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to all fire victims and wish you strength and resilience in facing this trial. While the assistance we provide may not be substantial, we hope it can alleviate some of your burdens,” he said.
Victor also mentioned that PT TPP is always open to collaborating with the government, social institutions, and the community for disaster response efforts and other social activities, particularly in the areas where the company operates.
The aid distribution event concluded with an emotional and warm atmosphere. Amid the remnants of rubble and the lingering smoke, a glimmer of hope emerged, fueled by selfless care and solidarity.
For PT TPP, this moment of concern is part of a long-term commitment to remain present and supportive of the surrounding community.
