PENAJAM — In anticipation of World Ozone Day on September 16, PT Sukses Tani Nusasubur (STN), a subsidiary of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro), encouraged youth to deepen their understanding of environmental conservation.
As part of the Astra Berbagi Ilmu Program at SMKN 3 Penajam Paser Utara (PPU), the company delivered education on environmental conservation and sustainable palm oil plantation practices. The event, held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, was attended by students and teachers.
Dwi Prasetya Ananta, Sustainability/Conservation Assistant at PT STN, spoke about the importance of environmental conservation and applying sustainability principles in palm oil plantations.
Suryawan, Head of the Plantation Agribusiness Program (Agribisnis Tanaman Perkebunan/ATP) at SMKN 3 Penajam Paser Utara, expressed appreciation for PT STN’s Astra Berbagi Ilmu Program, noting it gave students valuable insights into environmental conservation and sustainable palm oil practices.
“Activities like this are highly relevant for students, especially those in the Plantation Agribusiness Skills Program, as they bridge classroom learning with real-world industry practices. Students gain knowledge of cultivation techniques, environmental conservation, biodiversity, and sustainability principles in plantation management,” said Suryawan.
“We hope the collaboration between SMKN 3 PPU and PT STN will continue through future educational activities. By working together, we are confident we can prepare graduates who are skilled in plantation management, environmentally aware, and able to apply sustainable palm oil practices,” Suryawan added.
PT STN Management Representative Tri Putra stated that the Astra Berbagi Ilmu activity reflects the company’s commitment to supporting education and expanding young people’s understanding of environmental and sustainability issues.
“Through the Astra Berbagi Ilmu activity at SMKN 3 PPU for World Ozone Day, we aim to make a meaningful contribution to increasing young people’s knowledge and awareness of environmental issues. Education on conservation and sustainable palm oil plantations is essential, as young people play a key role in future development and maintaining environmental balance,” said Tri Putra.
Tri Putra affirmed PT STN’s ongoing commitment to supporting education through activities that provide students with valuable knowledge, especially on applying sustainability principles in plantation management.
He expects the activity will not only broaden students’ knowledge but also foster environmental awareness and highlight the importance of conserving natural resources for future sustainability.
“This spirit of knowledge sharing reflects PT STN’s commitment to building strong relationships with educational institutions and local communities, while supporting the development of a competent, environmentally conscious, and sustainability-minded young generation,” he said.
For PT STN, education is a key approach to fostering environmental awareness from an early age.
This aligns with the spirit of “Synergy Between Earth and People for One Indonesia” by promoting responsible plantation practices that consider environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
