PT Gunung Sejahtera Dua Indah (PT GSDI), a subsidiary of Astra Agro located in Central Kalimantan, has officially established the Sungai Bengkuang Fire Care Farmers Group (KTPA) in Sungai Bengkuang Village, which is part of the Pangkalan Banteng District in Kotawaringin Barat (Kobar) Regency.
“The establishment of KTPA is not merely a ceremony; it is a concrete step toward building the resilience of rural communities against fire risks while strengthening collaboration among companies, the government, and local residents,” stated Mulyadi, the Administrator of PT GSDI, during an event in Pangkalan Bun on Tuesday.
Moreover, this KTPA initiative is part of Astra Agro Lestari’s commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture that can withstand climate change.
“This KTPA is a key component of our strategy to empower local communities in environmental preservation and to prevent forest and land fires,” he added.
Mulyadi emphasized that the establishment of KTPA plays an integral role in PT GSDI’s long-term strategy to prevent and address forest and land fires, aligning with the company’s Zero Burning and Zero Fire policies.
“With the creation of the Sungai Bengkuang KTPA, we hope to strengthen the participatory forest fire mitigation system and support Astra Agro Lestari’s vision of achieving productive, environmentally friendly, and sustainable agriculture,” he explained.
The event was attended by various local stakeholders, including the Head of Pangkalan Banteng District, representatives from the Police Station, the District Agriculture Office, and the Head of Sungai Bengkuang Village.
“The active participation of these stakeholders demonstrates cross-sector cooperation in efforts to preserve environmental sustainability,” Mulyadi noted.
Suparman will serve as the chair of the Sungai Bengkuang KTPA, supported by 14 additional members from the village community.
“They will receive regular technical training, participate in forest fire suppression simulations, and receive firefighting equipment support from the Fire Protection team and the Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) team of PT GSDI,” Mulyadi explained.
He concluded by stating that this initiative aligns with Astra Agro’s Sustainability Aspirations 2030 and the Triple-P Roadmap strategy, which focuses on three main pillars: Portfolio, People, and Public Contribution.
“Through this approach, Astra Agro is dedicated to creating long-term value for all stakeholders,” Mulyadi said.
