Not every dream begins in a bustling city or a place with abundant facilities. Some dreams grow from the determination to keep learning, practising, and trying. That spirit led Rendi, a member of the Anak Dalam Community (SAD) from the Temenggung Nangkus group, to win a gold medal in the boys’ swimming event at the elementary school level of the National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) in Air Hitam District.
Rendi is a student in the remote-learning class at SDN 191 Pematang Kabau. This year’s O2SN, held in Jernih Village and at SDN 52 Semurung, brought together 16 schools competing in five sports: pencak silat, swimming, athletics, floor gymnastics, and badminton. Among the participants, Rendi stood out and emerged as the first-place winner in the boys’ swimming event.
Rendi’s victory was no coincidence. Behind the gold medal was a journey of dedication and disciplined training guided by his teacher. His achievement shows how perseverance and adaptability help a child overcome limitations.
Rendi’s achievement is part of the broader development of education in Air Hitam in early 2026. Beyond sports, educational initiatives for children from the SAD community continue to be strengthened through programs that foster character, independence, and mutual cooperation.
Efforts to expand access to education have received support from PT Sari Aditya Loka (SAL), one of Astra Agro’s entities in Jambi, which provides community development assistance around its operations. Educational support for the SAD community has been developed across levels, from early childhood to higher education.
During the first quarter of 2026, educational activities from early childhood through senior high school focused on implementing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). The program was complemented by Ramadan-themed Islamic boarding school activities, enriching children’s learning by fostering spiritual values, academic skills, and extracurricular participation.

For Rendi, winning at O2SN was more than just a medal. His achievement proves that providing opportunities to grow opens the way for every child to demonstrate their potential.
Rendi’s story highlights the importance of creating an inclusive learning environment where every child can discover their potential and succeed, regardless of background or location.
This aligns with Astra Agro’s efforts to support education access for the SAD community. In early 2026, educational programs continued to develop from early childhood through higher education. Support was also provided through non-formal initiatives like Community Learning Centres (PKBM), including Package A, B, and C programs, enabling children to continue education and obtain formal qualifications.
Rendi may have won just one competition but his story carries a bigger message: every child can grow when given space, support, and opportunity to develop.
His victory has become a symbol of hope for the education of SAD children and a source of pride for his school and community. From a single gold medal comes a story about the courage to dream. And through Rendi, we are reminded that when opportunity comes—and is pursued with determination—every child has the chance to go further.
