JAKARTA – PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro) has again received national recognition for its commitment to sustainability. At the 2026 Best Corporate Transparency and Emission Reduction Awards, organised by Investortrust.id, Astra Agro received the Green Achievement in Emission Reduction and Diamond Achievement in Emission Transparency awards.
Astra Agro Director Widayanto accepted the awards at a ceremony at Hotel Aryaduta, Jakarta, on April 30, 2026. The awards recognize companies that demonstrate measurable emission reductions and maintain transparent, verifiable disclosures to promote responsible business practices.
Director Widayanto stated that the awards recognize the company’s strategic and measurable approach to sustainability.
“This recognition reflects Astra Agro’s strong commitment to supporting decarbonization efforts at both the national and global levels. We believe that transparency and concrete actions in emission reduction are fundamental to building a sustainable and responsible palm oil industry,” he said.
As part of the Astra Group, Astra Agro aims to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 30% by 2030, using 2019 as the baseline. To achieve this, the company has implemented initiatives such as using palm oil mill effluent (POME) as compost to reduce chemical fertilizer use, substituting palm kernel shells for coal, and developing biogas facilities to capture methane.
Astra Agro also strengthens its environmental efforts by protecting High Conservation Value (HCV) areas, rehabilitating mangroves, and applying biological fertilizer innovations such as ASTEMIC (Astra Effective Microbes). The company has improved energy efficiency through initiatives like water management optimization, which reduces fuel consumption.
By the end of 2025, renewable energy made up 92.3% of Astra Agro’s operational energy mix. Along with methane capture and the use of palm shell and fiber biomass, these efforts achieved a 35.69% reduction in GHG emissions, or 439,825 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, compared to the 2019 baseline.
