Jakarta (Investortrust.id) — PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by receiving national recognition at The Best Corporate Transparency and Emission Reduction Awards 2026, organized by Investortrust.id. The company earned the Green Achievement in Emission Reduction and Diamond Achievement in Emission Transparency awards.
Astra Agro Director Widayanto accepted the awards at a ceremony at Hotel Aryaduta on April 30, 2026. The event honors companies that make measurable progress in emission reduction and demonstrate verified transparency in reporting, supporting responsible business practices.
Widayanto stated that the recognition reflects the company’s strategic and measurable sustainability efforts.
“This award highlights Astra Agro’s strong commitment to supporting decarbonization efforts at both national and global levels. We believe that transparency and concrete actions in emission reduction are fundamental to building a sustainable and responsible palm oil industry,” he said.
As part of the Astra Group, Astra Agro aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030, using 2019 as the baseline. To achieve this, the company has introduced integrated initiatives such as using palm oil mill effluent as compost to reduce chemical fertilizer use, substituting biomass shells for coal, and developing biogas plants to capture methane emissions.
Astra Agro has also enhanced its environmental efforts by protecting High Conservation Value areas, rehabilitating mangroves, and using biofertilizers such as ASTEMIC. The company continues to improve energy efficiency, including optimizing water management systems to reduce fuel consumption.
By the end of 2025, Astra Agro achieved a 92.3% renewable energy mix in its operations. Along with methane capture and the use of shells and fiber, the company reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 35.69%, or 439,825 tons of CO₂eq, compared to the 2019 baseline.
Investortrust CEO Primus Dorimulu explained that the awards were created in response to the increasing urgency of climate change and the growing expectations for corporate support of decarbonization.
“Transparency in emissions reporting has become a crucial aspect to ensure accountability and build public trust in corporate sustainability commitments,” he noted.
This recognition further strengthens Astra Agro’s position as an agribusiness that prioritizes both business performance and environmental sustainability. Astra Agro will continue to advance its green initiatives as part of its commitment to a low-carbon future.
