Pangkalan Bun (TribunKalteng.com) — To mark Earth Day, PT Gunung Sejahtera Dua Indah (GSDI) provided fire prevention education and conducted fire response simulations with students and teachers at SMPN 2 Pangkalan Banteng on Wednesday (April 22, 2026).
This initiative supports the company’s sustainability policy, which prioritizes environmental protection and fire prevention.
Aligned with its zero-burning policy, PT GSDI prioritizes prevention over reaction and works to strengthen the capacity of communities near its operations.
With increasing risks of forest and land fires (karhutla) due to climate change and human activity, educating youth is viewed as a long-term investment in environmental awareness.
The company’s Emergency Response Preparedness Team (TKTD) provided practical training on fire risk identification, initial response techniques, and the use of basic firefighting equipment.
Participants received both theoretical instruction and hands-on fire suppression training using burlap sacks, portable fire extinguishers (APAR), and company firefighting units. This approach aims to improve understanding and practical emergency preparedness.
Tri Budi J, Fire Protection PIC at PT GSDI, stated that this initiative demonstrates the company’s responsibility to ensure environmental safety in nearby areas.
“We want the company’s presence to extend beyond operations by making tangible contributions to community preparedness. Basic knowledge, such as wind direction, safe distance, and evacuation procedures, is essential to minimizing fire risks,” he stated.
He added that this activity is part of the company’s integrated fire prevention system, which includes regular hotspot monitoring, joint patrols, facility readiness, and routine emergency response training.
