Three oil palm plantation companies in Aceh Province—PT Perkebunan Lembah Bhakti, PT Karya Tanah Subur, and PT Tunggal Perkasa Plantations—are implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes focused on sustainable community empowerment in areas surrounding their operations.
These CSR programmes are carried out through four main pillars: strengthening the local economy, improving healthcare services, supporting education, and environmental conservation.
Catur Wibowo, Assistant for Sustainability and CSR at PT Perkebunan Lembah Bhakti, stated that the CSR programme is central to the company’s strategy to grow together with surrounding communities.
He made these remarks during a media gathering in Banda Aceh on Wednesday (4 March 2026).
These three companies continue to implement community empowerment initiatives in villages near their plantations.
This reflects a strong commitment to sustainable development through targeted CSR programmes that directly benefit the community.
“CSR is not merely a corporate obligation, but a manifestation of our responsibility to ensure the company’s presence brings tangible and sustainable benefits to the community,” said Catur.
In 2025, the CSR programmes of these three companies reached 31 villages across 9 sub-districts and 4 districts in Aceh.
All programmes are developed through dialogue and consultation with local communities to ensure they address each village’s specific needs and potential.
The CSR programmes are structured around four main pillars: strengthening the local economy, improving healthcare, supporting education, and conserving the environment.
In the economic sector, the companies support MSMEs, farmers’ groups, and fishermen’s groups through capital assistance, production facilities, and enhanced business management and marketing to promote income growth and economic self-reliance.
In health, the programme strengthens Posyandu (community health posts) by providing supplementary food (PMT), incentives and training for health workers, and health awareness campaigns to improve maternal and child health.
In education, the company offers teacher incentives and supports learning facilities and infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning in schools within its operational areas.
For the environmental pillar, the company undertakes conservation initiatives, including mangrove rehabilitation in the coastal areas of Aceh Singkil.
Since 2018, PT PLB has consistently implemented the mangrove planting programme, involving local communities and youth.
By 2025, over 51,000 mangrove trees had been planted across approximately 14.7 hectares.
These efforts aim to protect the coastal ecosystem from erosion and help increase fishermen’s catches by restoring marine habitats.
In addition to mangrove rehabilitation, the company promotes environmental education, plastic waste reduction, and river restoration at the village level to improve water flow and support local transport.
“Sustainability can only be achieved through effective collaboration between the company and the community. Therefore, we ensure that every programme is designed to deliver long-term benefits,” added Catur.
By implementing targeted, participatory, and sustainable CSR initiatives, the company is confident it can maintain strong community relations and make a tangible contribution to improving welfare across Aceh Province.
