SIAK — More than 450 teachers from PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk’s schools in Aceh, Jambi, Riau, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and Sulawesi participated in the Positive Psychology of Teaching Webinar hosted by Astra Agro on Friday (November 14th). The event, held via Zoom, reflected the strong enthusiasm of the educators.
Teachers from Astra Agro’s subsidiary, PT Kimia Tirta Utama (KTU), in Siak Regency, Riau Province, including Awal Mulia Kindergarten, SDS KTU, and SMP KTU, also participated. The webinar offered a collaborative platform for educators to enhance their classroom management skills through the application of positive psychology, focusing on both academic achievement and students’ character and emotional well-being.
Intan Nurcahayani, a Master of Psychology from the Astra Agro Sustainability Team, delivered a presentation and emphasized the application of positive psychology in the classroom.
Intan explained how teachers can foster students’ mental resilience, positive character, and a supportive environment where every child feels safe and valued. She encouraged teachers to view the classroom as a space for growth, built on empathy, appreciation, and positive interactions that support children’s development.
This initiative is valuable, as psychological aspects are integral to effective teaching. “I strongly support this activity, and I hope it can increase the knowledge and improve the competence of our teachers in carrying out their teaching and educating duties in schools,” said Sutikno, Coordinator of the Koto Gasib District Education Sub-Regional Office.
He expressed hope that collaboration between companies and the education sector will continue, particularly to enhance learning quality in areas requiring teacher capacity development.
The webinar also addressed the company’s commitment through the Child Violence Prevention Program (P2KA), which provides guidelines for Astra Agro schools to maintain environments free from verbal and non-verbal violence.
Through P2KA, teachers learn to identify early signs of violence, respond appropriately, and foster healthy interactions among teachers, students, and the school community. PT KTU emphasized that implementing P2KA is a key part of the company’s responsibility to ensure the safety, well-being, and protection of children in its schools.
Teachers are the main pillar in shaping future generations. Teachers are the main pillar in shaping future generations. Through this webinar, we hope educators will be better equipped with effective approaches to create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment that nurtures each child’s potential,” said PT KTU Administrator, Teddy Yohendra Siregar. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of learning while also fostering the character development of students.
Masrikan, head of SDS KTU, and teaching staff from all three PT KTU educational units also participated in the webinar as part of ongoing efforts to improve educator competence.
“This webinar is not just a training program, but part of Astra Agro’s larger movement to build character-building education, instill confidence, and ensure a learning environment free from violence,” said Masrikan.
With participation from hundreds of teachers across multiple provinces, this initiative is expected to have a lasting impact on the quality of education in all Astra Agro Lestari schools. It represents a meaningful step toward developing a stronger, more positive generation prepared for the future.
