Jakarta – PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro), through Astra for Creative Indonesia, develops one of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) programs through its subsidiaries.
Aiming to increase motivation and innovation in entrepreneurship. Of course, it is also an effort to improve the economic standard of living of the community.
PT Perkebunan Lembah Bhakti (PLB), a subsidiary of Astra Agro, is one of them. In addition to fostering entrepreneurship in the surrounding community, the association, which consists of people who live in PT PLB’s plantation housing, has also become creative.
The PT PLB association encourages the community’s economy through an MSME-based village development strategy.
The businesses vary, such as the business of various chips produced from the harvest in their own garden to the rental of tents for celebration equipment commonly used by surrounding villages.
However, the MSMEs association’s businesses certainly face challenges. They have little difficulty marketing their products to people outside their village.
At first, Rita Sembiring, a member of the PT PLB association, admitted to giving free testers to the community by traveling to stalls in surrounding villages.
Finally, a creative and unique idea emerged among the women of the association group, they utilized digital technology and social media as a means of promotion and ordering.
“It’s still rare here to order online, so it’s easy for buyers, especially since we can deliver it so it’s affordable,” said Rita Sembiring, a member of the PT PLB association.
“We promote through WA status, and some also have Facebook and Instagram, which is good, so more people order. If you want to order, all you have to do is WA, we will deliver it right away,” she said.
Although according to Rita, the income from this chip business is not a large amount, she is very grateful because the capital is not large. All the raw materials for the chips are taken directly from the village garden, which they also planted and processed.
In line with Rita, Catur Wibowo, CSR Assistant of PT PLB, revealed that this business activity is one of his steps to encourage members and the village community to be creative and enthusiastic about doing business even though it is small.
“In addition to the chips trading business, the PT PLB paguyuban’s tent rental business is also well-known in several villages because rentals like this are rare, even large companies rent to our paguyuban,” he said in his official statement, Friday (11/22/20224).
This step to empower the community economy in the association is included in the company’s commitment through Sustainability Aspirations, in public contributions. Bantolo
