Recent flooding in several areas of Arut Utara District, West Kotawaringin Regency, disrupted residents’ daily activities and hindered the community’s ability to fulfill essential needs.
In response, PT Surya Indah Nusantara Pagi (PT SINP) and PT Persada Bina Nusantara Abadi (PT PBNA) distributed staple food assistance packages to affected residents, focusing on communities in three ring-1 villages near the companies’ operational areas in Arut Utara District.
The flooding in Arut Utara significantly limits the residents’ necessities.
PT SINP-PBNA provided food assistance packages to help alleviate the burden on communities affected by the flooding.
Nurani Astra Program Initiative
The initiative was implemented through the Nurani Astra Program, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting surrounding communities.
Through this program, PT SINP-PBNA aimed to assist residents experiencing hardship due to the flooding.
Pangkut Subdistrict Head Sayub Ata and Arut Utara District Head Sapiudin expressed appreciation for the support provided by PT SINP-PBNA to communities affected by the flooding. The local government regarded the assistance as beneficial, particularly in helping residents meet basic needs during the flood.
Sapiudin explained that the recent flooding resulted from high rainfall intensity over the past several weeks.
Heavy rainfall in upstream areas contributed to rising water levels downstream. In these circumstances, support from various stakeholders, including companies, is highly valuable for affected communities. A representative, Purwanto, stated that the assistance reflected the company’s concern for communities affected by the flooding.
“This is one form of the company’s concern for surrounding communities affected by the flood disaster. We hope this assistance eases the burden on our brothers and sisters impacted by the flooding. We all pray that conditions will improve soon, floodwaters will recede quickly, and community activities can return to normal,” said Purwanto.
Purwanto added that surrounding communities are an integral part of the companies’ environment. PT SINP-PBNA therefore continues to monitor the condition of residents in its operational areas, particularly during emergencies such as flooding.
He further explained that the companies coordinated with the Arut Utara District Government, village administrations, and local community representatives to ensure the assistance reached those in need.
Through this initiative, PT SINP-PBNA hopes the assistance will help meet the needs of flood-affected communities, especially those residing near the companies’ operational areas. The food assistance packages exemplify the companies’ concern for communities facing challenging circumstances.
PT SINP-PBNA remains committed to maintaining strong relationships with local governments, customary institutions, community leaders, and residents in Arut Utara District. Through the Nurani Astra Program, the companies aim to continue supporting social initiatives that are beneficial and aligned with community needs.
