PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk has once again received national recognition for its commitment to sustainable agribusiness. The company won the Women in SDGs Action Award 2025 in the SDG 13 – Climate Action category, organized by Harian Bisnis Indonesia. The award was presented to Director Tingning Sukowignjo for her leadership in advancing climate change mitigation and sustainability in the palm oil sector.
This achievement reaffirms Astra Agro’s commitment to supporting global efforts for a green economy and climate change mitigation. The company continues to enhance carbon reduction through energy efficiency in palm oil mills, optimizing methane capture systems to convert methane gas into energy, and increasing the use of biomass and renewable energy in its operations.
By 2024, Astra Agro reduced its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 15.14% compared to the previous year. The company aims to achieve a 30% reduction by 2030, using 2019 as the baseline. To reach this goal, Astra Agro is building methane capture facilities, using biodiesel in transportation, applying biofertilizers, replacing coal with biomass, and improving diesel efficiency in water management systems.
Director Tingning Sukowignjo expressed appreciation for the award, viewing it as encouragement to further enhance the company’s contribution to environmental sustainability. “This award motivates us to continue strengthening our emission reduction and energy efficiency initiatives across all business lines. We believe that responsible agribusiness practices are not only important for the company’s sustainability, but also for a greener future for the earth,” said Tingning.
Beyond environmental initiatives, Astra Agro consistently strengthens its sustainability principles. These policies aim to strike a balance between business productivity and ecosystem preservation. The company actively protects High Conservation Value areas, monitors biodiversity-sensitive zones, and ensures operations do not negatively impact the environment or local communities.
