PT Letawa, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) unit and Plantation Polyclinic, organized a talk show and refresher course for Posyandu cadres in preparation for National Mother’s Day.
The event, organized by a subsidiary of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk, was attended by approximately 300 internal and external Posyandu (integrated health post) cadres mentored by the Astra Agro Lestari Sulawesi 1 Group.
The event, themed “From Mother’s Embrace and Father’s Support, Healthy and Strong Children Grow,” aimed to strengthen the role of Posyandu cadres in supporting child growth and development, as well as in efforts to prevent stunting.
The event was a collaborative effort involving PT Letawa, the Pasangkayu branch of Komunitas Peduli ASI, and Inisiasi Muda Tikke Raya, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering a high-quality future generation.
The talk show featured two main speakers: Dr. Andi Handriyati, M.Kes., Sp.A, a pediatrician from Pasangkayu District General Hospital (RSUD AKO), and Suri Fitriani, S.Sos., M.S., Head of the Pasangkayu District BKKBN. Participants demonstrated enthusiasm for the interactive presentations delivered by both speakers.
Posyandu cadres from various subsidiaries of the Astra Agro Lestari Group, including PT Tanjung Sarana Lestari, PT Pasangkayu, PT Mamuang, PT Lestari Tani Teladan, and PT Surya Raya Lestari, also participated in the event. These cadres were accompanied by Periska mothers, who served as their respective regional supervisors.
Suhardi, S.Pd., Assistant II for Economic and Development Affairs of Pasangkayu Regency, representing the Regent of Pasangkayu, stated that Posyandu serves as a crucial starting point in addressing stunted growth.
“Counseling and services at the Posyandu are essential for educating pregnant women and monitoring the growth and development of toddlers. When children’s growth and development are optimal, a golden generation will emerge, positively impacting economic growth and regional development in Pasangkayu,” he said.
The local government expressed appreciation for the cross-sectoral talk show and refresher activities for Posyandu cadres. According to Suhardi, this initiative serves as an inspiring example for companies in Pasangkayu area to provide health education to the community.
Sukurina, a Posyandu cadre from Jengeng Village, expressed gratitude to PT Letawa for organizing the event.
“In addition to the regular monthly assistance for external Posyandu, this activity is highly valuable for us as field cadres. We gained additional insights and knowledge, and also expanded our network with other Posyandu cadres,” she said.
Representing PT Letawa’s management, Ahmadianto, Head of the Plantation, stated that a healthy and strong child is determined not only by adequate nutrition but also by the love and active involvement of both parents.
A mother’s embrace provides security and affection, while a father’s support serves as a source of strength and a role model. “This synergy forms the primary foundation for preventing stunting and ensuring optimal physical, mental, and emotional growth in children,” he explained.
Dr. Asmal Mustafa of PT Letawa added that Posyandu cadres serve as the front line of community health services. Through this refresher activity, it is expected that the knowledge and enthusiasm of the cadres will increase, enabling Posyandu services to operate more effectively and sustainably.
“This activity demonstrates that Posyandu cadres are the spearhead in delivering health services to the community,” he said.
Ahmad Faizal, representing PT Letawa’s CSR, emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration among the company, local government, and community organizations.
“We hope this activity will not only broaden our perspectives but also strengthen the collective commitment among parents, cadres, and healthcare workers to continue working together in raising healthy, strong, intelligent, and principled children,” he concluded.
