PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (AALI) promptly distributed aid to victims of the flash floods that impacted several regions in Sumatra. The company aims for this assistance to alleviate the suffering of affected individuals and expedite the recovery of the disaster-stricken areas.
Tingning Sukowignjo, Director and Corporate Secretary of Astra Agro, conveyed condolences and concern regarding the disaster’s impact, which caused fatalities, injuries, and material losses among both directly and indirectly affected individuals.
“Our primary focus is to uphold humanitarian values and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure that aid, including food, medicine, and basic necessities, is delivered promptly and accurately to those affected,” he stated in an official announcement on Friday, December 5, 2025.
After the flood disaster, Astra Agro, in collaboration with its association, provided aid to victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. In addition to these efforts, Astra Agro independently overcame challenging conditions to deliver logistical support to ten villages in Aceh Singkil and West Aceh districts. These actions demonstrate a tangible commitment to supporting affected communities.
The Head of North Singkil District, Asnaldi, acknowledged the company’s prompt assistance to affected residents. He expressed appreciation for Astra Agro’s timely donations to the community.
Ali Nurdin, Secretary of Ketapang Indah Village, expressed gratitude for the company’s responsiveness to the needs of flood-affected residents. He noted that logistical support, including food staples, has enabled residents with limited access to obtain essential supplies.
Astra Agro consistently implements sustainable plantation practices in accordance with regulatory requirements and sustainability certification standards, including ISPO and RSPO. These standards strictly govern the management of buffer zones, riverbanks, and high conservation value (HCV) areas.
The company actively safeguards HCV areas, monitors biodiversity-sensitive regions, and ensures that all operations avoid negative impacts on the environment and local communities. Its commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated through educational initiatives and community engagement aimed at increasing climate change awareness.
