Amid daily plantation activities, there are spaces where employees and families of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro) come together and share benefits with surrounding communities. These spaces nurture communities that grow through shared values, compassion, and sustainable self-reliance.
Paguyuban Kencana Lestari
At PT Gunung Sejahtera Putri Perdana (GSPP) in Central Kalimantan, the Kencana Lestari Paguyuban has grown into a close-knit community. Led by Chairman Dimas Saputra, it embodies a strong spirit of togetherness and social responsibility.
The community or paguyuban as it is called in Indonesian is founded on mutual support and growth. Its flagship programs, such as Zero Accident and Safety Agent, demonstrate a commitment to making safety a core value rather than just a slogan.
“Safety starts at home” is their guiding slogan. By applying the Triple S principle; Pre-work, Work, and Post-work safety—security becomes an integral part of their culture.
Between their daily routines, they preserve cultural values. Through the neighborhood watch (Siskamling) of Temu Paguyuban, residents strengthen their sense of security and solidarity. The kuda lumping dance has also become a rooted space for cultural expression, uniting residents across generations in a spirit of cooperation.
Economic independence is another key pillar. Through independent MSMEs, residents produce herbal medicine, tiwul rice, cassava chips, and operate hair salon services collaboratively. Environmentally, the Biopori program demonstrates care for the earth and complements the Religious Landfill, reinforcing the community’s moral and spiritual values.

Paguyuban Hidup Baru
This association exemplifies how the four pillars of social responsibility—health, education, economy, and environment—are integrated into daily life. In Laburan Village, Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, the Paguyuban Hidup Baru community, supported by PT Borneo Indah Marjaya (BIM), demonstrates how synergy and sustainability can be achieved collectively.
This association focuses on three main pillars: Safe, Healthy, and Green. Safety agents, regular night patrols, and safety signs demonstrate a commitment to making safety a daily practice.
In the health sector, they operate community health posts, mosquito control programs, and the Ready to Work (RTW) program, which encourages residents to maintain physical fitness. Joint sports activities and supplementary food (PMT) further promote healthy living.
The Waste Bank program, which has been active since 2021, transforms waste into economic resources and educates residents about environmental responsibility. It has partnered with the East Kalimantan Environmental Agency and received a provincial-level Proklim award.
Through environmental initiatives, residents develop Paguyuban Mandiri MSMEs, producing banana chips, herbal drinks, and handicrafts. All profits are reinvested for the benefit of the community. The New Life Association promotes healthy habits, environmental harmony, and community independence.

Paguyuban Hotel Berseri
In Riau, the Paguyuban Hotel Berseri, supported by PT Kimia Tirta Utama (KTU), fosters a spirit of togetherness. With a vision for a green, harmonious, healthy, safe, and productive environment, the association builds strong relationships among residents, nature, and companies.
This community is built on four pillars: Healthy, Safe, Green, and Prosperous. Through the Hotel Berseri Sehat program, they support residents’ health with the Anggrek Posyandu, herbal gardens, and weekly exercise for mothers. A fitness center is also available as a community resource.
For the Safe pillar, a Safety Culture is promoted through the Safety Commitment Monument, routine PPE inspections, and the Ready to Work program. As a result, PT KTU maintained its Zero Accident status through 2025.
The Green Pillar program encourages community creativity. Through the LIMBAH initiative (See, Initiate, Utilize, Create, and Present solutions), used gallon containers are repurposed as plant pots, old tires become fences and monuments, and organic waste is processed into compost. These efforts help create a vibrant and sustainable environment.
Under the Prosperity pillar, residents engage in goat trading, catfish farming, ginger powder production, and cultivating gardens for fresh vegetables. These activities enhance well-being and strengthen community bonds.
These three communities, Paguyuban Kencana Lestari, Paguyuban Hidup Baru, and Paguyuban Hotel Berseri exemplify sustainability at Astra Agro. They promote human values, responsible environmental management, and economic growth through collaboration and shared benefit. dedication and hard work, these three communities successfully became the top three in the Astra Agro Innovation (Innovagro) Community Competition 2025.
This recognition highlights the spirit of togetherness, creativity, and care that emerges from strong community engagement.
