To demonstrate its commitment to supporting society and the environment, PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro) has, through its subsidiaries, PT Gunung Sejahtera Ibu Pertiwi (GSIP) and PT Agro Menara Rachmat (AMR), provided support to the Semesta Borneo Waste Bank in Pandu Sanjaya Village.
This initiative is part of the company’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, which focuses on environmental conservation and community empowerment. The aim is to promote sustainable waste management in areas near company operations.
PT GSIP-AMR provided composting equipment and fermentation supplies to support compost and maggot production. Assistant Corporate Social Responsibility Pingkan Nabilla presented the assistance to Eko Wardi, manager of Bank Sampah Semesta Borneo, in the presence of community and company representatives.
With this support, the company hopes that the Semesta Borneo Waste Bank will be better able to convert organic waste into valuable products, such as compost fertilizer and maggot feed. This also encourages the use of circular economy practices in the village.
According to Pingkan, this activity encourages the community to take a more active and productive role in managing waste independently.
“Through this assistance, we want to encourage the community to be more active in managing waste independently and productively.” “Organic waste, which has been considered useless until now, can actually be processed into compost fertilizer or maggot feed that has commercial value,” he explained.
Eko Wardi, owner of Bank Sampah Semesta Borneo, expressed appreciation for the support.
“This assistance is very helpful for us to improve the quality and production capacity of compost. We also plan to develop training for residents so that more people can get involved in waste management,” he said.
Through this initiative, PT GSIP AMR demonstrates its ongoing commitment to environmental protection and community support. The collaboration with Pandu Sanjaya Village aims to set an example for creating a clean, healthy, and productive environment.
As part of the Astra Agro Lestari group, PT GSIP AMR will continue to work on projects that benefit both the broader community and the environment.
