On a bright September morning, the atmosphere at the Garden Polyclinic (Polibun) of PT Tunggal Perkasa Plantations (PT TPP) felt noticeably different. As the sun began to rise, employees gathered at the activity location. With enthusiastic smiles and light footsteps, they came not to work as usual but to offer something invaluable—a drop of blood for life.
A warm atmosphere enveloped the polyclinic room as employees, management, and representatives from the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and Syafira Hospital in Pekanbaru filled the space on Wednesday, September 10th. One by one, participants registered and underwent a series of health checks before finally lying down on the donor chairs. Despite its simplicity, the moment radiated a powerful sense of solidarity.
“Donating blood isn’t just about helping others; it’s also a way for us to show concern for our own health,” said Muhammad Ilyas, a harvesting employee at PT TPP, while waiting for his turn. His words reflected the spirit of togetherness that accompanied the event.
This social initiative, organized by PT TPP, a palm oil company within the PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk. group, garnered significant enthusiasm. A total of 149 employees registered as donors, demonstrating that social responsibility is deeply ingrained among the staff.
Ferizal Bosma, a representative from Syafira Hospital in Pekanbaru, noted that blood donation drives play a vital role in maintaining the availability of blood stocks at the hospital. “We are very grateful to PT TPP. Blood stock availability is crucial, and this activity truly helps PMI and hospitals meet patient needs,” he said.
At the same event, Victor Aybund, the Administrator of PT TPP, expressed his pride. “A drop of blood we give today means so much to those in need. This activity is a tangible manifestation of PT TPP’s concern for others, in line with the company’s commitment to social and health sectors,” he said enthusiastically.
In addition to benefiting recipients, donating blood also brings advantages to the donors, such as promoting the regeneration of red blood cells and maintaining heart health. It’s no wonder the participants looked proud after donating blood, especially since they received souvenirs as a form of appreciation from the company.
More than just a routine activity, this blood donation drive carries a profound meaning, serving as a reminder that caring can be expressed through simple actions. With this initiative, PT TPP hopes to continue fostering a spirit of solidarity in the workplace while also supporting PMI in its humanitarian efforts.
