PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (AAL), through its subsidiary in North Penajam Paser (PPU) Regency, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Province, PT Waru Kaltim Plantation (WKP), has reaffirmed its commitment to education by launching the Achievement Scholarship Program.
The program, held at the Waru District Office, awarded achievement scholarships to 75 outstanding students from 18 schools, including elementary, middle, high schools, and vocational institutions in the Waru District, PPU Regency.
This initiative exemplifies the company’s dedication to nurturing a highly competitive and talented young generation across academic, artistic, athletic, and other skill areas.
“On behalf of the North Penajam Paser District Government, through the Education Department, we extend our highest appreciation to the management of PT WKP for the scholarships provided to exceptional students in PPU District,” stated Ismail, an official from the North Penajam Paser Education, Youth, and Sports Department (Disdikpora), on Wednesday (September 3, 2025).
He noted that the awarding of these scholarships represents a genuine commitment from PT WKP to support education and foster a bright future generation for the nation.
“Programs like this are incredibly meaningful, as they not only assist students in continuing their education but also provide motivation and opportunities for them to compete and achieve success on a broader scale,” he emphasized.
Ismail expressed hope that this spirit of collaboration would inspire other companies to actively contribute to the advancement of education in PPU Regency, aligning with the company’s social responsibility initiatives.
Eko Andrianto, the Administrator of PT WKP, highlighted that the scholarship program is part of the company’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources in the areas surrounding its operations.
“We hope this scholarship incentivizes students to enhance their learning, achieve higher academic performance, and engage in healthy competition. This program demonstrates our dedication to encouraging the educational aspirations of students in the region,” Eko stated.
