Oil palm plantation company PT Tunggal Perkasa Plantations (TPP) organized a forest and land fire emergency preparedness rally on Thursday, September 4, 2025. This event followed an emergency disaster preparedness meeting regarding forest and land fires held at the Indragiri Hulu (Inhu) district level last May.
The rally, focused on Karhutla (forest and land fire) emergency preparedness, took place at the PT TPP plantation area in Pasir Penyu District. Attendees included H. Syahruddin, S.Sos, M.T., the Acting Regional Secretary of Inhu Regency; Sabtu Pradansyah Sinurat, the Chairman of the Inhu DPRD (Inhu Regional House Representative); AKBP Fahrian Saleh Siregar, S.IK, M.Si., the Inhu Police Chief; representatives from the 0302/Inhu Military District; various sub-district heads; and other distinguished guests.
Acting Regional Secretary Syahruddin praised PT TPP’s initiatives, stating, “PT TPP has set an example in anticipating fires, and this should serve as a model for other companies.” He also urged the surrounding sub-districts to collaborate in managing potential forest and land fires and expressed the hope that PT TPP would continue providing ongoing training and education to the Fire Care Community (MPA) and other relevant stakeholders.
The Chairman of the Inhu DPRD, Sabtu Pradansyah Sinurat, also commended PT TPP’s efforts, noting, “Inhu Regency is quite prone to forest and land fires, and PT TPP has taken the best steps to prepare for this.” He emphasized the importance of such simulations to ensure that all parties understand their roles and the necessary actions to take during a fire. “With early and consistent prevention efforts, we are optimistic that Inhu Regency can be free from forest and land fires,” he added.
During the event, Fire Protection personnel from PT TPP, Hendra Novianto, presented the company’s facilities and infrastructure. The participants were engaged and asked questions about the fire suppression equipment.
The rally concluded with a visit to MSME booths mentored by PT TPP, showcasing products such as salted eggs from an elderly farmers’ group, honey, tamarind turmeric, and various foods and snacks created by women from the mentored MSME groups.
In his remarks, PT TPP Administrator Victor Aybund stated that Riau Province, particularly Inhu Regency, is prone to forest and land fires. Therefore, all stakeholders must remain vigilant against this threat. “As part of the Astra Agro Lestari group, PT TPP is committed to sustainability and forest fire management through the Astra Agro Sustainability Aspirations 2030 program, which is based on the Triple-P strategy: Portfolio, People, and Public Contribution,” he noted.
To enhance preparedness, PT TPP has implemented several concrete measures, including the construction of reservoirs and water pockets, joint patrols with MPA, and collaborations with local governments and the TNI-Polri.
“We have also set up disaster management facilities such as observation towers, drones, portable pumps, high-pressure pumps, hand tools, and trained fire brigade personnel,” he added.
These efforts demonstrate the company’s commitment to environmental protection and the prevention of forest and land fires (Karhutla) from the outset. Through this readiness initiative, it is hoped that collaboration will strengthen, enabling optimal coordination and implementation of preventive and mitigation measures for Karhutla in Inhu Regency.

The Chairman of Inhu Regional House Representative, Sabtu Pradansyah Sinurat, aexpressed appreciation for PT TPP’s commitment to fire prevention through the forest land and fires (karhutla) simulation.
