The spirit of Indonesia’s 80th anniversary of independence resonates strongly in Bangun Mulya Village, Waru District, North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU). With the support of PT Waru Kaltim Plantation (WKP), a field that was once neglected and filled with overgrown bushes has been transformed into a vibrant celebration centre for the entire community.
This remarkable renovation is a testament to PT WKP’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. Boiran, the Head of Bangun Mulya Village, approached the company for help in revitalising the village office field, a place vital for community gatherings. The previous condition of the field hindered the village’s ability to host events, particularly the cherished Indonesian Independence Day celebrations.
“This field will serve as the heart of our 80th Anniversary Independence Day festivities, showcasing cultural performances and MSME activities. We are profoundly grateful to PT WKP for their incredible support in this renovation,” expressed Boiran on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
This initiative represents more than mere physical improvements; it nurtures a sense of community and patriotism among the villagers, as noted by Sawali, the Babinsa (Village Development Officer) of Bangun Mulya Village.
Eko Andrianto, the Administrator of PT WKP, articulated that this effort embodies the company’s dedication to fostering infrastructure development in surrounding villages.
“The infrastructure enhancement reflects our commitment to the community and aligns with the government’s vision for sustainable infrastructure development and community empowerment,” emphasised Eko.
To facilitate the repairs effectively, PT WKP mobilised an array of heavy equipment, including graders, compactors, and dump trucks, along with fuel and skilled manpower.
“The company envisions this field as a positive and enduring space for residents, particularly the younger generation, encouraging a variety of beneficial activities in the future,” added Eko.
The partnership between PT WKP and the village government extends beyond this project, with Eko Andrianto emphasising ongoing collaboration to enhance other infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, to support the community’s daily needs.
