PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro) has once again achieved national recognition, receiving the Indonesia Best Workplace Awards 2025 for its steadfast commitment to nurturing a human-centred, inclusive, and adaptable work culture.
This honor highlights Astra Agro’s dedication to prioritizing employee well-being and development as vital foundations for embracing the future of the industry. During the event themed “People First, Performance Driven: Recognizing Excellence in the Future of Work,” Astra Agro was celebrated in the category of Consistent People-Centered Innovation in Agribusiness.
“What we present today is not merely symbolic. It is the result of thorough research, a combination of media monitoring, desk research, and field validation,” said Muhamad Ihsan, CEO of Warta Ekonomi.
According to Ihsan, the leading companies exemplify a genuine commitment to employee well-being. “Our research found that 94% of top companies cultivate a fair and healthy work culture, with key assessment criteria including technology, occupational safety, and social impact,” he noted.
Ihsan further emphasized that workplace transformation transcends mere productivity, focusing instead on creating environments that nurture the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of workers.
Prof. Anwar Sanusi, Ph.D., Head of the Manpower Planning and Development Agency at the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, echoed this sentiment, stating that traditional approaches can no longer effectively address labour challenges. “We are discussing not just efficiency; we are emphasising loyalty, collaboration, and the holistic development of individuals,” he remarked.
Anwar underscored the government’s ongoing advocacy for innovative, flexible, and technology-friendly work environments. “Our workforce must collaborate rather than be replaced by technology,” he emphasised.
Various initiatives at Astra Agro tackle these challenges. Fenny Sofyan, Vice President of Investor Relations and Public Affairs at Astra Agro, expressed that the company consistently fosters innovations from within, including through the Innovagro program, an annual event that gathers fresh ideas from employees.
“People are our most valuable asset. Relevant innovations can only emerge from a work culture that values and empowers its individuals,” said Fenny.
Astra Agro is deeply committed to developing an inclusive and diverse work environment, as illustrated by the formation of a Gender Committee and the Women Champion program across all its subsidiaries. Striving for zero accidents and zero burn incidents, the company strengthens its occupational safety systems through regular training, provision of personal protective equipment, and strict adherence to the K3 system.
The organisation’s commitment to human rights principles shines through its collaboration with Komnas HAM and Conflict Resolution Unit (Cipta Rukun Upaya/CRU) in Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) training.
Since 2017, Astra Agro has been embracing digital transformation across various operational sectors, aligned with its bold vision to become the Most Productive and Most Innovative Agribusiness Company in the World.
“This award inspires us to continue cultivating a collaborative and adaptive work culture that values diversity,” concluded Fenny. “We believe that the future of the company relies on the well-being and contributions of every individual within it.”
