In the face of the government’s strong efforts to achieve national food self-sufficiency, PT Surya Indah Nusantara Pagi (SINP) and PT Persada Bina Nusantara Abadi (PBNA) have taken significant steps by holding their first corn harvest in Pangkut Village, located in the North Arut District of Kotawaringin Barat Regency. This event showcases the cooperation between the business sector, law enforcement, and the community in tackling Indonesia’s food security challenges.
This harvest is part of PT SINP-PBNA’s commitment, as a subsidiary of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk, to support government programs, particularly the Asta Cita pillar, which focuses on strengthening economic resilience through food independence. By engaging various stakeholders, the company illustrates that active collaboration between the private sector and local communities can foster a productive and sustainable agricultural ecosystem that directly benefits local welfare.
The event took place in Afdeling OG, the operational area of PT SINP-PBNA, and was attended by several stakeholders, including the Kapolsek of Arut Utara, representatives from the Arut Utara District, Pangkut Village leaders, Koramil representatives, local traditional and religious leaders, along with company representatives and community members.
Eko Sumarsono, the Deputy Head of the Arut Utara Police, emphasized the importance of synergy between law enforcement and the company in ensuring the success of this program. “We are ready to support and supervise every stage of this initiative, from planting to harvesting, to ensure optimal and sustainable results,” he stated.
Aan Dwi Permono, the administrator of PT SINP-PBNA, mentioned that this initiative is a tangible representation of the “Prosper with the Nation” spirit promoted by Astra Agro Lestari, aiming to grow and thrive together with the nation. He noted that this activity not only reinforces food security but also creates new economic opportunities for the surrounding community.
“We believe that such multilateral cooperation not only enhances food security but also fosters a resilient and sustainable socio-economic ecosystem,” Aan said.
In its corn cultivation practices, PT SINP-PBNA employs integrated and sustainable agricultural techniques, including environmentally friendly pest control, seasonal fertilization, and manual weeding performed by local labor. The company also establishes strategic partnerships with goat farmers through a mutualistic symbiosis scheme to maintain the agricultural ecosystem.
The success of this inaugural harvest symbolizes not just an achievement but marks the beginning of effective collaboration between businesses, the government, and the community. PT SINP-PBNA hopes to expand and strengthen this program in other regions, ensuring that its benefits are felt not only locally but also contribute meaningfully to realizing a resilient and self-sufficient Indonesia in the food sector. For Astra Agro, growing together with the nation is not merely a slogan; it is a commitment embodied in every action taken.
