Residents of Runtu Village in the Arut Selatan District can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the road, which has long been a significant obstacle in their daily lives—particularly during the rainy season—has been opened and leveled.
This 1.5-kilometer road was developed with the full support of PT Gunung Sejahtera Ibu Pertiwi (GSIP) and Agro Menara Rachmat (AMR), a subsidiary of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk.
This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to making a meaningful contribution to the community, especially in areas surrounding its operations.
For the residents, this road represents more than just infrastructure; it is a symbol of change. Previously, it was a muddy dirt path that was nearly impassable. Now, with proper access, agricultural activities, local trade, and travel to schools and healthcare facilities have become significantly easier and safer.
Agus Wantara, the Community Development Officer of PT GSIP AMR, remarked during the road inauguration, “We believe that the presence of the company should have a positive impact on the surrounding environment. The opening of this road is one of our concrete steps to encourage village development in the areas around our operations.”
The inauguration event took place on Saturday, May 17, and was attended by Rahadhian Tegar Taufani, the Administrator of PT GSIP AMR, along with village government representatives such as Purwadi, Chairman of the BPD, and Juandi, Head of Village Welfare in Runtu.
Village authorities welcomed the company’s initiative, expressing that it greatly benefits the community. “We extend our highest appreciation to PT GSIP AMR,” said Purwadi. “We have long needed this road. Good access will open up many opportunities and directly improve the residents’ standard of living.”
The opening of this road is part of Astra Agro Lestari’s ongoing commitment through its business units to provide significant benefits to the community. Beyond infrastructure, PT GSIP AMR continuously develops various programs through its four pillars: Education, Health, Environment, and Economy.
With the new road access, PT GSIP AMR not only facilitates the mobility of residents but also fosters closer collaboration between the company and the community. In the future, the company is committed to continually contributing to the development of inclusive and sustainable villages.
