In the midst of a vibrant green garden owned by PT Lestari Tani Teladan in Rio Pakava Subdistrict, Donggala Regency, a humble building resonates with the joyful sounds of children reading aloud. Here, Hasniati passionately fulfills her role as Principal of SD Lestari Tani Teladan (LTT).
Hasniati exemplifies the power of determination, proving that women can thrive on equal footing in the workplace, even in male-dominated environments.
“Working with many male colleagues is not an obstacle in my work. We learn from each other, support each other, and most importantly, we work together,” Hasniati described this to the media, Wednesday, (4/23/2025).
Her statement is simple yet profoundly inspiring. For Hasniati, being a woman serves as a springboard, not a limitation. Her greatest challenge arises not from male coworkers but from balancing the dual roles of housewife and career woman. PT Lestari Tani Teladan, the place where she dedicates herself displays a company that champions women’s empowerment and offers an exceptional space for growth.
“Our company provides equal opportunities for all employees to develop without differentiating between men and women, and balance is the key to everything,” she said.
Many women in the company now hold strategic positions, a remarkable achievement in the plantation sector that was rare just a few decades ago. Support flows from both the company and the surrounding community, celebrating the presence of women in the workforce. Their involvement not only empowers them but also opens up new opportunities for the next generation, inspiring both boys and girls alike.
The entrenched patriarchal culture is gradually evolving. At Hasniati’s workplace, opportunities are no longer confined by gender.
“If the job is my responsibility, then I do it. Just like any other employee,” she said firmly.
Hasniati emphasized the crucial role of company policies in fostering the comfort and safety of female employees. The provision of lactation rooms and daycare centers in the workplace exemplifies the company’s genuine commitment to its staff. While challenges persist in plantation work, Hasniati believes the company’s proactive approach in providing adequate safety equipment demonstrates its dedication to employee well-being.
On this Kartini Day, Hasniati inspires us to recognize that the fight for emancipation continues. It has penetrated areas once thought distant from the story of equality, like plantations and rural schools.
“We may not fight like Kartini in the past, but we continue her spirit by working, educating, and showing that women can,” she said.
