In a remarkable display of commitment to the local community, PT Kimia Tirta Utama (PT KTU), a palm oil plantation company within the Astra Agro Lestari group, is taking meaningful strides to enhance lives in Koto Gasib District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The company is actively repairing the roads at Simpang Astra Pos 1 in Pangkalan Pisang Village, demonstrating the spirit of Social and Environmental Responsibility aimed at elevating road conditions for the benefit of all.
Upon receiving urgent reports from the community regarding road damage that hampered daily activities, PT KTU mobilized resources to address the issue. The repairs to Simpang Astra Road, a critical link between Pangkalan Pisang Village and Kuala Gasib Village to the main road, are pivotal in restoring access and connectivity.
The Head of Koto Gasib Subdistrict, Wendy Masrizal, conveyed his gratitude for PT KTU’s dedication. “We are very grateful. This road is the main access for our community to the district’s primary road,” he shared, acknowledging the significant impact of the repairs.
Routine maintenance has become essential, especially as road damage is often exacerbated by inadequate drainage. PT KTU’s commitment goes beyond repairs; the company actively manages dust by periodically watering the roads during dry seasons. “This is one of our tangible contributions to the surrounding community,” stated Teddy Yohendra Siregar, Administrator of PT KTU, highlighting the company’s proactive engagement with community infrastructure concerns.
An internal team, including the Chief Engineer, Infrastructure Assistant, and CSR teams, collaborated to ensure an efficient repair process. They provided both materials and heavy equipment, reinforcing PT KTU’s dedication to the community.
Attended by key personnel like Risman Susanto (Head of Engineering) and others, this event at the end of March 2025 symbolizes a commitment to building sustainable synergy. “With good cooperation with the surrounding community, we are optimistic that a conducive and mutually beneficial atmosphere will continue to thrive,” Teddy Yohendra affirmed, inspiring a shared vision for progress and collaboration.
