Palm oil tree, a plant often associated with African vegetable oil, offers numerous benefits. The oil palm is highly productive and can be processed optimally, making it a valuable plant. Every part of the is essential and can be utilized, leaving no waste.
PT Perkebunan Lembah Bhakti (PLB), a subsidiary of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk (Astra Agro) located in Aceh Singkil, collaborated with the Aceh Singkil Food Crops, Horticulture, and Animal Husbandry Office to pioneer an increase in agricultural productivity through factory products at PT PLB.
PT PLB operates a palm oil processing plant that produces liquid fertilizer, which solidifies after processing. The solid form is then used as organic fertilizer to improve soil and plant fertility.
This innovation, spearheaded by PT PLB and Syam’un, the Head of the Aceh Singkil Food Crops, Horticulture, and Livestock Service Office, aims to enhance agricultural yields in Aceh Singkil by providing farmers with PT PLB’s solid fertilizer.
Syam’un explained the benefits of using solid fertilizer for horticultural plant media. He mentioned that solid fertilizer has proven effective in enhancing plant fertility. Additionally, he noted that the liquid waste sediment, once converted into solid form, can be utilized as organic material and planting media for home plants.
Furthermore, Syam’un expressed that farmers have faced challenges obtaining organic fertilizers, but PT PLB has stepped in to assist. Through this initiative, PT PLB aims to help farmers reduce their reliance on chemical fertilizers.
In collaboration with the Aceh Singkil Food Crops, Horticulture, and Livestock Service Office, PT PLB recently provided 5 tonnes of organic solid fertilizer to farmers in one of the company’s ring one villages on 3/9/2024.
Riki Agusrinaldy, the Administrator of PT PLB, expressed his hope that the assistance and cooperation would boost agricultural production and improve the welfare of farmers in line with Astra Agro’s motto, “prosper with the nation.”
Riki explained, “The solid waste generated is usually recycled by PT PLB as organic fertilizer for our oil palm plants. The benefits of this practice include improving the fertility of the oil palm plants.”
