PT Astra Agro Lestari (AAL) Tbk, a leading agribusiness company in Indonesia, celebrates World Environment Day 2024 by donating thousands of trees to the community in Pasangkayu, West Sulawesi.
This initiative demonstrates the Company’s commitment to environmental sustainability through government reforestation efforts and climate change mitigation.
The tree donation ceremony was held on June 11, 2024, at the Pasangkayu Regency Anjungan area.
Representatives from CDAM AAL, Agung Simoaji, the Deputy Regent of Pasangkayu, Forkopimda Elements, and the local community attended the event.
CDAM AAL, Agung Simoaji, emphasized the importance of environmental protection and the role of trees in maintaining ecosystem health.
Agung stated that the donated trees will help improve air quality, prevent soil erosion, and maintain biodiversity.
The local community also expressed their gratitude to AAL. They are committed to caring for the trees and ensuring their long-term sustainability.
Meanwhile, Vice Regent of Pasangkayu, Herny Agus, thanked Astra Group for participating in the Environment Day activities.
“We are very grateful to palm oil companies, especially the Astra group, which has participated in this activity,” Herny Agus said.
Herny hopes that this activity will also be followed by all elements of society in Pasangkayu district with the hope that clean air will create a reliable generation,” she said.
