Social Responsibility Performance Assessment

The Company measures social responsibility performance through two approaches, Community Development (CD) Index and Astra Friendly Company (AFC).

CD Index

CD Index (Community Development Index) is an index obtained from surveys that aimed at:

  • Identifying public perception of Company (company image)
  • Identifying public perception of social contributions by the Company
  • Identifying public perception of social relationships (between the Company and communities)
  • Identifying public commitment to the Company

Samples of CD Index survey is set at 5% of household populations in each village to be surveyed, with convenience random sampling method. The samples are respondents who are willing to be interviewed, randomly selected and evenly in the neighborhood of surveyed villages.

The survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires containing list of positive statements, to be filled in by respondents with assistance of survey officers. The questionnaires are filled using 1 to 10-scale technique:

Respondents are free to assess the positive statements presented to them in this survey. The assessment from all respondents are then tabulated and calculated to obtain the as CD Index.

CD Index survey is conducted quarterly by the Company in collaboration with local university. The enumerators of the survey are university students who have received orientation on this survey.

Astra Friendly Company

The Company applies Astra Friendly Company (AFC) conception that is integrated in its operations, based on the belief that the implementation would benefit all stakeholders.

Astra Friendly Company consists of three pillars namely: Value, Mindset and Behavior, which have their respective criteria of implementation, as follows: [4.8]

2. Mindset, aimed at ensuring all CSR programs/activities are conducted systematically, measured and in accordance with Astra Management System, consist of the following:

b. Corporate Social Responsibility Program
c. Determination of Key Performance Indicator and Scorecard of Corporate Social Responsibility Implementation
d. Review
e. Human Resources Management, refers to Astra Human Resources Management
f. Data Management

3. Behavior, aimed at ensuring all CSR programs/activities are able to support the Company in fulfilling stakeholders' rights, consist of the following:

a. Business Operational Area Orientation
b. Shareholder
c. Employee
d. Environmental Management
e. Supplier
f. Customer
g. Local Community
h. Government
i. Public Communication
j. Report to the Public

Astra Friendly Company implementation by subsidiaries, the Company as well as parent company (PT Astra International Tbk) is regularly assessed. An appraisal system is formulated to assess the achievement of pillars, elements and sub-elements of Astra Friendly Company.
