Bilik Sastra Astra Launched at Soeman HS Library |
Pekanbaru – PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk in cooperation with Provincial Government of Riau launched “Bilik Sastra Astra” (Astra’s Literature Stand) at Soeman HS Library, Pekanbaru, Riau Province. “Bilik Sastra Astra” is one of the CSR (corporate social responsibility) program of the company which committed to the provision of high quality education in the areas in which it operates.

“Bilik Sastra Astra” contains with classic literature books which no longer available in the general book stores. To provide these books, PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk bought directly from the publishers such as Balai Pustaka and PT Gramedia. In the first stage, 1.500 books of 500 titles displayed in the stand.
Chairman of the Regional Archive and Library Body (BPAD) of Riau Province Naili Saidi said in his statement that he appreciated PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk on its contribution to the Soeman HS Library. “We do hope, in the future, not only literature books will be displayed at the stand. But also another books regarding oil palm and palm oil plantation. Therefore, the readers will be more aware about palm oil business process,” said Naili in his statement during launching ceremony of “Bilik Sastra Astra”.
Meanwhile, Director PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk Joko Supriyono explained the background of the opening of Bilik Sastra Astra in the Soeman HS library. In the old days, Riau is well known as a source of Melayu literature. But currently, people of Riau pay less attention to their own culture such as classic literature. “Bilik Sastra Astra aims to awakening the attention of people in Riau province in particular, to the classic culture like literature,” said Joko Supriyono.
Soeman HS Library is the biggest library in Indonesia with 6 storeys modern architecture building. “Bilik Sastra Astra” located on the second floor of the library building.(TM) |
